Jamie Starr was born and raised in the Gunnison Valley, and spent time growing up in both Crested Butte and Gunnison. He attended the Crested Butte Academy for high school, where he competitively ski raced.

Jamie has a bachelors degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder-- where he studied economics and business and graduated with distinction, and a J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law where he specialized in Natural Resources Law.  During law school, he worked for two years with the Lands Department at Western Resource Advocates, a nationally recognized non-profit law firm in Boulder specializing in natural resource issues in the American West.  He was also an editor for the Colorado Journal of International Environmental Law and Policy, one of only two law journals in the U.S. of it's kind.  During his summers in law school, Jamie became familiar with the operation of Starr & Associates, working as a Summer Associate.

Just prior to joining the firm as an Associate, Jamie worked as a writer and Managing Editor for renown lifestyle and trend-spotting weblog JoshSpear.com and as Gear Editor for SNOW Magazine, a luxury winter lifestyle magazine based in Aspen, Colorado (a position he still holds).  Jamie also co-founded Spear Collective, an artist management collective that represents 26 emerging and established artists and graphic designers.

In his spare time, Jamie is an avid skier, and enjoys traveling, worldly cuisine, cycling, wakeboarding, and playing softball.
